Anticipating the re-opening of schools in Maharashtra amidst the COVID-19 crisis, we are now soliciting contributions of protective gear or other related donations.
We have received the first round of donations arranged by our benefactors Dr Aasit Shah and Vyas Healthcare Solutions. We are further happy to accept:
Masks
Gloves
Sanitizer bottles
Soaps
Tissues
Monetary donations for the purchase of the same
Upon reopening, we will ensure that:
Each student is provided with protective masks and gloves
Each teacher and school employee will be provided with masks and gloves
Parents will be provided with masks and gloves
Sanitizer bottles will be placed in every classroom, public area, and office on school premises with appropriate instructions and in the school buses
Hand washing will be made mandatory for the students and employees
Classroom space will be maximized to ensure as much physical distancing as possible
Students will be given regular tutorials on appropriate precautionary and preventive measures
Parents will be kept informed about the precautions taken by the school and will be counselled on the first day of re-opening
Protective gear provided to staff and students will be regularly replenished and replaced
Our primary concern is the well-being of the students not just at this time, but in the uncertain future. As part of our social role in the wider community, we will share any excess donations we receive with other schools for the underprivileged in the local area.
Without clear instructions from the government for schools such as ours which cater to rural, underprivileged children (and cannot rely on online teaching or staggered classes), we look to our community to lend a hand and join us in our efforts to keep students safe as they return to school. Donations will be received directly by the trustees who will ensure that they are appropriately distributed and implemented.
